House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan says Republicans can hold their congressional majority in the 2026 midterm elections — but only if they clearly communicate what they have accomplished and warn voters about the direction of the Democratic Party.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) laid out his case for how Republicans can prevail in November, pointing to tax cuts, border security, welfare work requirements, and school choice as key accomplishments of the GOP-controlled Congress.

Jordan acknowledged that voters are still feeling the effects of high costs.

“Things still cost too much,” Jordan said, arguing that Americans recognize the lingering impact of inflation and economic policies from the Biden administration. He maintained that the Trump administration has helped stabilize costs, even though prices remain elevated.

For Republicans, Jordan said the answer is to be straightforward with voters: remind them what the party promised, demonstrate what it delivered, and explain what could happen if Democrats regain control of Congress.

A Choice Between Two Economic Visions

Jordan framed the midterms as more than a typical congressional election. He argued that voters are increasingly facing a choice between free-market policies and what he characterized as a growing socialist agenda within the Democratic Party.

“Do you want the Mamdani/Democrat socialist agenda?” Jordan asked, warning that voters should consider the economic and political consequences of putting Democrats back in charge.

The warning comes as socialist policies, including expanded government control and redistribution, have become increasingly prominent within parts of the Democratic Party.

Jordan argued that Republicans need to make the contrast unmistakable rather than assuming voters will automatically reward the party in power.

Warning of Investigations and Political Retaliation

Jordan also warned that a Democratic takeover of Congress would likely bring a new wave of investigations targeting President Donald Trump, members of his administration, and potential Republican presidential contenders.

He predicted Democrats would use congressional investigative authority against Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, members of the Trump family, and others.

Jordan characterized such investigations as another form of political weaponization of government.

The Stakes for Free Markets

For the Economic War Room audience, perhaps the most significant part of Jordan’s message is his argument that the election represents a broader debate over America's economic system.

Jordan pointed to freedom, the Bill of Rights, and free markets as institutions Republicans must defend.

“If you don’t have what we have, bad things happen,” Jordan said. “You don’t have freedom, you don’t have a Bill of Rights, you don’t have free markets.”

His bottom line for Republicans was blunt: demonstrate what the party has accomplished, acknowledge that Americans are still struggling with high prices, and make the differences between Republican and Democratic economic visions impossible to ignore.

With the 2026 midterms approaching, Republicans will have to convince voters that their policies are improving the nation's economic future — while Democrats will seek to capitalize on voters' continued frustration over the cost of living.

For Jordan, the election ultimately comes down to a simple choice: free markets and limited government, or a growing socialist agenda.
